Kathleen Ames (530) 559-0806
Kathleen Ames CYT owner of YogaUtopia Voted "Best Choice" of Nevada County with Parents Resource Guide Magazine and has been practicing yoga since 1992 and has been teaching since 2000. Since 2000 she has taught over 7,000 hours of yoga. Kathleen travels the US teaching master classes and sharing her knowledge of alignment in Yoga teacher trainings.
Kathleen has had extensive training in over seven different yoga styles and advanced teacher training in Anusara, Vinyasa, Viniyoga, Flow Yoga and Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga and is a master of Yoga therapeutics.
She has studied with numerous internationally known yoga teachers but her best teacher has been her pain. "My pain has not been in vein, I have more compassion and understanding when it comes to limited mobility and discomfort in movement. We need to slow down...the slower we go the more we feel, the more we feel the more we heal."
Kathleen has healed herself of many afflictions including the effects of four car accidents and although she was diagnosed with arthritis at the age of 21, today she lives pain free without medication. She loves to share the many health and healing benefits or her classes. With her extensive knowledge of anatomy Kathleen is especially adept at individualizing instruction to each student's needs and working with, overcoming and preventing students injuries.
Kathleen has also been an instructor of Pilates (group fitness/personal training certification through AAAF in 2010), martial arts (Nevada state Tae-Kwon-Do champion in 1988 & 1990) and belly dance; performing professionally and teaching for almost 30 years (see her dance bio under belly dance). Whatever Kathleen teaches, she does so with a warm heart and a sense of humor. She is passionate about teaching yoga and welcomes any and all questions anytime.
