Skyler Bright, CAS, E-RYT500, CMT, PKS has studied and practiced the ancient arts and sciences of wellness for 15 years. In a previous life, she taught skiing for 10 years and was an actress in LA. She received her Hatha Yoga certification (RYT) with 500 hours in Restorative and Vinyasa styles in 2003 from the Shiva Center of Yoga and Ayurveda; in Swedish and Asian Massage (CMT) with 775 hours from Mueller College in 2005. She has studied Shiatsu, Tuina (Chinese Deep Tissue), Reflexology, Swedish, Lomi Lomi, and Ayurvedic massage.
In 2005, she opened San Diego’s first green yoga studio, Yoganic, which ranked in the top five yoga studios in 2007 voted by San Diegans in the Channel 10 A List. She moved to the San Juan Ridge in 2008 and graduated in 2011 as a Clinical Ayurvedic and Pancha Karma Specialist (CAS and PKS) with over 2,000 classroom and internship hours from California College of Ayurveda.
Skyler has taught yoga and diet/ lifestyle wellness classes and/ or given massage to clients at The Chopra Center, La Costa Resort, and Renous Day Spa in southern California, Mar de Jade Resort in Chacala, Mexico, The Spa at Sugarbowl Ski Resort in Tahoe, Shuniaa and Wild Mountain Yoga in Nevada City, SPIRIT Peer Empowerment Center , Hospitality House, and Common Goals in Grass Valley, the Day Spa and Masonic Lodge in Downieville, and the Senior Center and Yo’garage at Willow Springs in North San Juan, which she cofounded in 2008.
She currently teaches at Yoga Utopia, CalWORKS, Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, DVSAC, and the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Nevada City. In addition, she offers Ayurveda and Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) consultations for clients in her private practice.
She has also been a Certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition Counselor, serving on the DVSAC Crisis Line for five years, and taught women’s self defense classes with RAD Nevada County.
In 2014, she founded Yoga for Trauma Recovery Institute, where she has led two Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Trainings for over 25 students. The goal of these trainings is to lead yoga teachers and therapists to bring yoga’s healing into therapeutic settings, supporting talk therapy and other recovery models to create more complete mind body recovery, reduce relapse, violence, and recidivism.
Skyler just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and is now endeavoring to balance motherhood and work. Skyler loves to hike with friends, swim in the river, ski in the winter, and share her understanding of embodiment and integration in body, mind and spirit with anyone who wants to take their health back into their own hands through natural, simple means, in harmony with the environment.
